Disney Romance for Dummies II: Valentine magic for under $100

Cash to burn ($50 – 100)

Although romance can blossom at Disney with little or no budget, having some extra cash to indulge on a special Valentine treat opens up even more romantic potential. Armed with a little information about the possibilities available at Walt Disney World and a little pre-planning, you can make Valentine’s Day unforgettable. For less than $100, consider planning to…

  • Order a bouquet

younme 150x150 Disney Romance for Dummies II: Valentine magic for under $100Disneyflorist.com provides a variety of breathtaking bouquets and gifts, but many of them are quite pricey.  There are, however, a few really beautiful items that stand out.  Take, for example, the  You and Me combo for $40 + tax. It includes a pair of roses intertwined with a woven heart and a bracelet.  Instead of just flowers for her, the bouquet celebrates your relationship; it’s about the two of you.  Presenting that to your love, or having it delivered to your table at dinner is romance 101.

  • Make your own princess gift

Disney offers a number of luxurious packages designed to make your love feel like a princess. They include tiaras, glass slippers, jewelry, and roses.  Lovely as those items are, you can do better…cheaper…as long as you’re willing to put out some time and effort.  Rhinestone and crystal tiaras are available in a variety of styles in the Arribas’ Brothers stores at Downtown Disney, Epcot, and the Magic Kingdom.  Tiny rhinestone tiaras set on hair combs are also available in most locations that sell princess costumes. Furthermore, if you know your lady’s favorite princess, compiling a number of items featuring her should be easy.  Visit World of Disney or Arribas’ Brothers; have a glass featuring her favorite princess engraved with her name, or  buy a necklace or keychain with the image of her favorite princess (or have a laser image of the two of you burned into a keychain).  Get a satin pillow or elegant basket and make your own princess gift. It will be more personal and less expensive than the pre-made assemblies available.

  • Order a customized cake

miniwedding 150x150 Disney Romance for Dummies II: Valentine magic for under $100Cake may not sound like the most romantic item for a Valentine’s day celebration, but a one of a kind cake customized to celebrate your love can be incredibly special.  Although it requires calling in advance, Disney provides customized cake services via the Disney Cake Line.  With a call to 407-827-2253, you can work with a planner who will help you theme a cake to memorialize your love in a very personal way.  The cakes Disney chefs create are truly amazing, rivaling the food network any day.  Take a look – this indexed thread gives a glimpse of what the decorators can achieve – usually for under $100. These cakes can be delivered to a restaurant, location on property, or can be picked up at a designated location.

  • Pick a pearl at Japan or Downtown Disney ($15-100)

Sharing a special experience that yields a tangible memory can be wonderfully romantic.  That opportunity is provided by the pick-a-pearl concessions at both the Japan pavilion in Epcot and Downtown Disney.  Each stand allows guests to pick out an oyster and receive a pearl for about $15.  That pearl is then appraised, and can be set in a variety of keepsake jewelry items.  Although choosing an oyster can seem silly, it combines the magic of the unknown and the joy of a shared adventure.  Some of the pearls discovered can actually be quite valuable, and regardless of the value, the excitement of finding out what you chose and selecting a setting together makes a memory that renders the pearl far more than just another piece of jewelry.
