Florida weather. The blessing that allows for year round touring of the Walt Disney World Resort is also a curse during the hot summer months. We’ve written before about staying hydrated and beating the heat, but one of my favorite ways to stay cool at Walt Disney World is simply to stay indoors!

At every park, there are a number of lengthy indoor attractions with plenty of cold air conditioning. Use these attractions to your advantage and make sure to visit them at the hottest parts of the day. Don’t leave Mickey’s Philharmagic for the evening, enjoy it in the early afternoon when everybody is fighting to ride Splash Mountain. Skip Spaceship Earth when you pass it in the early morning and come back when you can’t stand the heat (after a visit to Club Cool, of course) for a cool relaxing  journey through time. Every park has a few options for lengthy indoor seating, from continuous shows like The Great Movie Ride to performances like Finding Nemo: The Musical. When you make your plan for the day, be sure to hit these kinds of attractions at times when you know the heat will get you.

Also, for some odd reason…the hottest times of the day are actually also the busiest times of day. This is another reason why large show attractions that don’t have much of a wait, like the Carousel of Progress, are a great bet at these peak times.

Of course…if all else fails, the hot afternoons are a great time to head back to the resort for a nap, too!

Just make sure that you factor in expected heat while planning your vacation. By taking advantage of indoor attractions, you can stay a step ahead of the rest of the crowd and stay cooler (and happier) vacationing in Florida.
