Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Locked on Easy

SMK Mickey 211x300 Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Locked on Easy

The new Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom interactive game has proved too popular. It was revealed yesterday that the game is locked on the “easy” mode until further notice. Merlin has attracted too many worthy apprentices.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the attraction has proved so popular. The long waits at attractions are often a turn-off during the spring break period under normal operating conditions. However, this year, Magic Kingdom is still adding finishing touches on their new attractions and has been refurbishing others, adding to very crowded conditions in some areas. The idea of an attraction without waits or worrying about a Fast Pass time has been very well received.

The problems occur when guests who have advanced farther in the game start their quests. These more difficult quests take more time and can lead to lines at certain game points. Thus, Disney has temporarily disabled being able to play the harder levels. There’s no word on when the additional playing modes will be unlocked but players are encouraged to keep their game cards for future visits. Everything a player has achieved, including levels, is recorded on those game cards. The interactive game is a cross between the Disney Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure and card games such as Pokemon which have remained popular among tweens and teens for about the past twenty years. Players fulfill their quests by finding game points and interacting with them through their cards.

Epcot Food and Wine QR Code - Spaceship Earth!

Disney has already proven to be quite the tech savvy company and they recently have been very forward thinking with their Social Media presence, so I was not at all surprised to see this Spaceship Earth QR Code in World Showcase.

Signage has begun to appear around World Showcase for the upcoming International Food and Wine Festival and as I stopped to drool over some of this year’s dessert menu, I noticed the QR code in the corner. I scanned it with my iPad and it took me to a very well laid out application which featured guides to all of the food options in the Festival, as well as a Map of where each item is located, an event and concert guide and some nice social sharing features.
