Disney Parks Blog has released new concept art for the Princess Fairytale Hall, the princess meet and greet currently under construction as part of the new Fantasyland expansion. The meet and greet is no surprise; it will be housed in the space formerly occupied by Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and will replace the Princess character meet currently housed on Main Street USA.
What is interesting, however, is the concept presented of the waiting area. Rather than depicting a traditional queue, the image seems to depict a heavily themed (and possibly interactive) waiting area with guests mingling, sitting, and moving around. Although this depiction may be nothing more than artistic license, it does fit in with the model pioneered in the Dumbo queue. Furthermore, Disney’s promotion of its new Fastpass+ system has repeatedly mentioned the ability to reserve “certain meet and greets” as part of the online/smartphone reservation system. A queue that would allow guests to “check in” for a prior meet and greet reservation and then wander a waiting area until their reservation is called would be in keeping with the new model.
What do you think? Does the image support a no-line queue or is it just artistic license? And what about reserving a meet and greet time up to 60 days in advance? Good idea or not?
