Can’t Get Enough of Captain Jack?

Me either!  I think I’m in love!  (But I do have a confession to make — my family never even saw a Pirates movie until this past year. One day, I just got it in my head that we needed to give the movies a chance.  We bought the first one and loved it so much that we added the other 3 movies to our collection within about 2 weeks!)  And now, we’re addicted.  Seriously!

Captain Jack - spotted at Applebee's

In fact, this past weekend, while eating at Applebee’s with a friend, I looked up to realize that I had the perfect view ===>

I had to take a picture to share with my girls because, well, we’re all rather  taken with Jack.

And you know what?  You simply can’t get enough of Captain Jack at Walt Disney World.  I mean, sure, they’ve added him to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (and I’m so glad that they did!) and they have added Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial to Adventureland also.  But, if you’re a big fan of Pirates, you’re likely left longing for more.

And if so, you’re in luck!

pir118994SMALL 300x238 Cant Get Enough of Captain Jack?Earlier this week, it was made official by the Disney Parks BlogThe Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow is coming to Hollywood Studios this fall!

While an opening date has yet to be announced, it is rumored that this attraction will be housed in Soundstage 4 (which previous featured Journey Into Narnia).  While my family is also fans of the Narnia films, we were never all that thrilled with the attraction. The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow sounds so much better.  Read what Jason Roberts, show producer for Walt Disney Imagineering, has to say about this upcoming attraction:

“This is going to be an immersive experience. We’ll really delve into the story of Captain Jack Sparrow and put our guests in the middle of it all in new and exciting ways. Story is always the most important thing for us at Walt Disney Imagineering, but we’re always looking at new ways to tell the story that our guests have never seen before. In this attraction, we’ll let you walk in the footsteps of Jack Sparrow. It’s not ‘the making of,’ not ‘behind the scenes’ … it is really a first-person experience. We worked with the archives as well as the filmmakers while they were shooting the last movie. And as a fan, I just loved sitting through those films again and again, going through all the details and leveraging them for this new experience. It’s really been a blast.”

So, what about you?  Is this something that you and/or your family will be anxious to see?  My hope it that they mean “early fall” and we’ll get to see it in September!
