Welcome Foolish Mortals (or at least those willing to pay the $285 ticket price).
Disney has announced a special celebration of the Haunted Mansion as part of its quiet and merchandise-focused celebration of Walt Disney World’s 40th anniversary this year. The Contemporary resort will be playing host to Room for One More, a day-long celebration of the Haunted mansion and its legacy. The event will run from 9 am to 9 pm on September 30. Although the details of the event are left cryptic, the skeleton itinerary at the Art of Disney Parks website lists a live performance by the talented Noah, a themed “haunted feast,” and an extended question and answer session with a panel of imagineers.
Disney’s teaser description promises ” we invite you to step through the graveyard gates of the Mansion cemetery, recreated with ghoulish delight inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Here you can dine in a mist enshrouded banquet realm hidden among the crypts. While the organ plays, restless spirits will rise to entertain you during a Mansion’s feast where everything is laid to rest by our Ghoulish Gastronomists. The cryptic dreams that haunt you in the night will be exchanged and explained by expert apparitions.”
Special 40th anniversary merchandise will also be available to attendees including pin sets, art work and figurines.
Guests wishing to attend the event may submit their requests for one or two tickets by June 20, and submissions will be “randomly selected.”
It is lovely to see the Haunted Mansion, one of Walt Disney World’s most popular attractions, honored with its own special event. And, if Disney treats the day with its usual attention to theme and detail, the event will no doubt be quite spectacular. Would you want to attend? What else would you like to see for the 40th Anniversary of the Magic Kingdom?
