The Disney Princess Designer Collection has new rules about its upcoming releases. The new rules have been put into place after both complaints from unhappy Disney fans and the accidental over-selling of Snow White this past Monday from computer error. The doll collection has proved popular beyond expectations and demand is high for the remaining princesses: Tiana, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Pocahontas.

All five remaining dolls will be sold on October 17, 2011 at the Disney Store. Online purchasing will not occur until October 18, 2011. At the Disney Store, before opening, guests will be lined up and receive a ticket so that the dolls will be “First come, first serve”. Guests will only be allowed to purchase one doll per Princess and guests must be seventeen and older.

The next day, the dolls will be released online but the precise time has not been determined. The same rules will apply on DisneyStore.com. Guests will still be restricted to one doll per princess and must be seventeen or older. It’s hoped that the increased quantities by releasing all the dolls at once will ensure that each guest will be able to get at least one of them but this remains to be seen.

The Disney Princess Designer Collection has been temporarily halted and future dolls will be rescheduled. This comes after Monday morning’s incident where Snow White was oversold online. There’s no telling how many customers were led to believe they had purchased a doll but later found out that there was no doll available for them.

Unlike the Limited Edition Vinylmation figures which are limited per order or by guest, the Disney Princess Designer Collection has had no such limitations. The lack of limitations is even more unbelievable since the dolls have become immensely popular. Each doll sells out in less and less time than its predecessor so that the last two dolls have sold out in less than an hour after being released. This has led to complaints of people hoarding dolls online or in person. Store employees are also accused of holding dolls for guests not present when they are first released in the morning. Jim Fielding, President of Disney Store Worldwide, released a statement that they will “reevaluate our process to ensure that all guests have a fair opportunity to purchase these highly coveted dolls.”

Snow White is currently selling for as much as five hundred dollars on Ebay and a complete set of all ten dolls, sold in limited quantities at the D23 convention, is offered for two thousand dollars.

An update, including the new release dates, is expected this Friday. Tiana was supposed to be available for purchase on this upcoming Monday.
