As a chill begins to seep into the air and the end of October creeps closer, we find ourselves in the time of year for celebrating the spookier side of things. Haloween is on its way, and it’s a great time to take a look at the scary side of (insert ominous thunderclap)….the happiest place on earth. Muahaha!
Okay, okay, so scary stuff at the happiest place on earth? Really? Actually, yes, absolutely. Although Walt Disney World conscientiously avoids the gore-laden horrors of other haunted attractions, it has more than a few frights to offer, particularly for those who love spooky ghost stories and haunting echoes that whisper late at night when you least expect them. Walt Disney World’s spooks aren’t the kind that jump out at you, but they just might, in the immortal words of the ghost host, “follow you home.”
So, in honor of Halloween, that time of year when the ancients believed the division between our world and the one beyond it stretched thin, let’s celebrate the spookier side of Walt Disney world, from urban legends to attraction histories. In the next few weeks, we’ll be visiting some of the spookiest sites and Walt Disney World property and sharing their legends, their details, and maybe even a few spooky secrets! Come with us, if you dare, as we set off to have a frightfully good time!
