Today Tangled Ever After, a short sequel to Disney’s hit Tangled (which came out in theaters in March 2010), will premier on the Disney channel at 9:15 pm EST after the Princess and the Frog. Fans were thrilled when this short 6 minute film that depicts the chaos that ensued when Pascal and Maximus were charged with carrying the rings for Rapunzel’s royal wedding to Flynn Ryder (Eugene) was first released on January 13, 2012 as a preview to Beauty and the Beast’s return to theaters in 3D. As an avid Disney fan and collector I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Tangled Ever After’s TV debut (other than recording and watching it of course!) than to spread the word about Disney’s collection of merchandise that features “Rapunzel’s Royal Wedding”.
Immediately when Disney announced “Tangled Ever After” requests for merchandise featuring the wedding flooded in to Disney’s facebook page and different Disney blogs. To everyone’s delight at midnight on February 21st the Disney store’s website came out with the highly anticipated new “Rapunzel’s Wedding Collection”. The midnight release of this collection on February 21st, followed by its release in stores later that morning, was particularly exciting for many Disney collectors who were waiting on pins and needles for their first opportunity to pre-order the 17” Limited Edition Tangled Ever After Rapunzel Wedding doll. Disney’s 17” Limited Edition dolls are exquisite, with amazing detail, and have been extremely popular since the first doll, Snow White, came out in 2009. She was limited to 5000 dolls and although originally sold for 99.50 now it’s almost impossible find a new unopened 17” LE Snow White for less than 1,000 dollars. In 2010 a 17” LE Belle followed with the diamond edition Blu-ray/DVD of “Beauty And The Beast” and Tiana also came out that year (both limited to 5000 dolls). The next 17” LE dolls, Alice and the Queen of Hearts, came out in September 2011 and were even more rare with only 500 of each issued. In March 2011 Disney celebrated Tangled and its newest official Princess with a beautiful 17” LE Rapunzel doll in her purple dress with long blonde hair (limited to 5000). A 17” LE Mother Goethel doll came out at the same time.
I was one of the particularly fervent fans and collectors who waited up online impatiently for the 17” LE Tangled Ever After doll to appear for pre-order on Disney’s website, along with the release of the rest of the collection, at midnight PST February 21st. I chatted online with other Disney devotees as we all waited nervously after many of us went through the mad rush to get the dolls from the Disney Princess Designer Collection last Fall. I was up every Sunday night eagerly refreshing the Disney Store’s page. As the buzz about these dolls grew they began to sell out as soon as they appeared on the site. Disney couldn’t even keep up with the demand and many people who thought they had purchased theirs got e-mails later saying that unfortunately they were sold out. Even though it can be quite bad for my wallet I truly can’t resist anything Disney and I was so determined to get all ten designer dolls for a complete collection that I even strategized an elaborate plan to get a good spot in line when the remaining five were released at the Disney Store. Through determination, lots of maneuvering, some luck, and with my endlessly patient mom as my sidekick I somehow managed to be first in line at the mall and thankfully got the dolls!
At midnight on the 21st however, the fears of all of us who were waiting quickly turned to relief when the 17” LE Wedding Rapunzel came out and everyone was able to pre-order her without anyone reporting problems. Mine shipped out yesterday and I can’t wait for her to arrive. This beautiful doll is still available at http://www.disneystore.com/ for those who decide they might want to order her. (I’m sure if you do you won’t be disappointed!)
Pascal is another item from Tangled, and part of the new Tangled Ever After Collection, that has been extremely popular and previously sold out. He is adorable and, like the 17” LE Wedding Rapunzel doll, is even better in person than in the pictures. There are two versions of Pascal currently available at the Disney Store online: one that’s part of “Rapunzel’s Royal Wedding” Collection that has him all suited up in his formal bow tie and one that is under “Tangled Top Toys” with “shimmering metallic green scales”.
