Ever since the first round of Vinylmation figures inspired by Star Wars, many have been wondering when Disney would use their Marvel properties. The answer is October 11th at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

As opposed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU for short, the Vinylmation figures are based on the comic book versions of their favorite superheroes which is why it includes the original Nick Fury and Spider-Man in his white Fantastic Four outfit. The rest of the superheroes present in the series are Spider-Woman, Thor with Mjolnir, Hulk, Vision, Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther and Dr. Strange. Hawkeye is the combo topper. In Vinylmation, some sets are sold for $24.99 and include a visible Vinylmation figure on top of the blind box. It’s a special figure that can be only be found this way and it’s called the combo topper. There’s no word on who the Mystery figure is.

Since Vinylmation only allowed for thirteen or fourteen characters at a time, the majority of Marvel’s characters were left out. One can only speculate at this point about all the possibilities. There could be a second series of heroes or one just with villains or a series of just the X-Men to coincide with the new X-Men film, Days of Future Past, being released May 23, 2014.

Was your favorite character included? Who would you like to see in the future? Would you like a different franchise?

New details have emerged on Thor’s Meet and Greet at Disneyland. It will be at the same portion of Innoventions that held the Iron Man suits for their Iron Man 3 exhibit. However, unlike other Meet and Greets, this attraction will combine storytelling with movie memorabilia and be called Thor: Treasures of Asgard. Park guests will be informed, probably through a pre-taped segment, that Jane Foster has calculated that the Bifrost will open right now in their very building. The Bifrost is a rainbow bridge that Thor and others use to travel across the galaxy, including to Earth. After that introduction, park guests will get an up close look at many movie props which could include Mjolnir, various other weapons or even costumes. Then, they travel the Bifrost to reach Asgard and meet Thor himself. This set up is also similar to The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Thor will come to Disneyland on November 1, 2013.

What do you think? Are you still upset that Loki isn’t involved?

Disney guests will soon be able to meet Thor. In anticipation of the new film, Thor: The Dark World, park guests will enter Asgard before taking photos and receiving autographs from the God of Thunder himself. There isn’t a firm date but since the film is released November 8, it should be in the next four to six weeks.

Thor is expected to have an updated costume from his appearance at the New York Stock Exchange in 2011. His Mjolnir will also resemble the new version to be unveiled in the second film. There’s no word on whether it will light up like its cinematic counterpart or not.

Thor isn’t scheduled to appear at Walt Disney World. Officially, Thor appearing at Walt Disney World would be a violation of Marvel’s contract with Universal Studios Florida. However, while Universal Studios includes Meet and Greets with many Marvel characters, Thor is not available there. Universal Studios is also not entitled to current cinematic versions of the characters or any characters that were created for the films.

Floridians who don’t want to make the trek to California will have to wait for the cruise line appearances. Disney’s ship, Disney Magic, has been renovated to include the Marvel’s Avengers Academy which will be part of the Oceaneer Club that’s geared towards the younger guests. Young guests will train alongside Thor, Captain America and Iron Man using SHIELD technology.

While Thor is the first Marvel character to appear at a Disney park, the D23 Expo also featured Captain America and Iron Man so expect Captain America to have his own Meet and Greet just in time for Captain America: Winter Soldier being released April 4, 2014.

To the disappointment of many, there are no plans for Loki to appear.
