The Disney Princess Designer Collection has new rules about its upcoming releases. The new rules have been put into place after both complaints from unhappy Disney fans and the accidental over-selling of Snow White this past Monday from computer error. The doll collection has proved popular beyond expectations and demand is high for the remaining princesses: Tiana, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Pocahontas.

All five remaining dolls will be sold on October 17, 2011 at the Disney Store. Online purchasing will not occur until October 18, 2011. At the Disney Store, before opening, guests will be lined up and receive a ticket so that the dolls will be “First come, first serve”. Guests will only be allowed to purchase one doll per Princess and guests must be seventeen and older.

The next day, the dolls will be released online but the precise time has not been determined. The same rules will apply on DisneyStore.com. Guests will still be restricted to one doll per princess and must be seventeen or older. It’s hoped that the increased quantities by releasing all the dolls at once will ensure that each guest will be able to get at least one of them but this remains to be seen.

Disney princesses will rule the Disney Store this fall, both as elegant women and re-imagined toddlers. Both lines of dolls and accessories were designed by Disney animators to truly capture the essence of the character. Prices range on the merchandise from $10.50 to $70 for the higher end scarves.

The Disney Princess Designer Collection is releasing one doll per week between now and October 24th. The dolls are put into brand new dresses with more modern cuts and fabrics. The most striking change is Pocahontas. She’s now placed into a tight sequined dress that hugs all her curves with a brown sequined clutch to match. Snow White’s cleavage is accentuated, while Cinderella has a black pearl necklace with a coach-shaped clutch. Several of the dolls come with clutches. However, every doll comes in a box with a protective special keepsake display case. Considering the $59.50 price tag, it’s doubtful that anyone would want to play with this collector’s item anyway. Along with the dolls that are only available at the Disney Store, there are special note cards, nail polish, lip gloss, tees, scarves and more that use the original fashion illustrations.

If that sounds a little too pricey, there’s the Disney Animator’s Collection. This collection features the princesses as toddlers. It was entirely designed by Glen Keane and Mark Henn. Glen Keane was Supervising Animator for Ariel and Aladdin as well as being an Executive Producer for Tangled. Mark Henn was also a Supervising Animator for Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Mulan and Tiana so they know their princesses. Unlike the adult line where some of the facial sculpts can resemble Barbie, these are highly individualized molds. Each doll comes with a small cloth companion such as baby Meeko or baby Rajah. The outfits are very shiny except for Pocahontas, whose clothing is more leather-like. Best of all for the amount of detail and quality, they are kept at the standard Disney Store toddler doll price of 24.50. They’re expected to be available after October 24th when all the dolls in the Designer Collection have been released.
